Judge Stephen Braslow denied Marty Tankleff a new trial in a poorly reasoned result-oriented decision. Every factual inference was resolved in favor of the prosecution, every defense witness was deemed unreliable, and the court analyzed the testimony of each witness individually instead of looking at the massive amount of new evidence to suggest Marty Tankleff is innocent. Although the decision is devastating, Tankleff's lawyers and army of supporters did not expect to win in Suffolk County. They are placing their hopes in the appellate court to reverse the judge's decision and finally set Marty on the road to freedom. Despite an obvious effort to make his decision appeal-proof, the trial court left several meaty issues open on appeal. And, amazingly, after the publicity surrounding the decision, yet another witness has come forward to testify that Peter Kent was among the trio of men who murdered the Tankleffs at the behest of Seymour's business partner.
